Women of Thulusdoo in The Maldives
In todays world, where most peoples days are filled with scrolling through different social media. You can often get the feeling that photographs are something that’s very “now” and if they are not taken during the last 24 hours they are old and have no value. I think that myself sometimes. That’s why it’s good to look through my files and albums every now and again. If I’ve heard about a photo contest, which doesn’t require the images to be taken during the last year, I sometimes just see images in my albums that would be right for the contest.
That’s the case with these two images I’ve submitted to the reFocus 2024 Color Photography Contest. All the colors that were present on the Maldivian islands was something that surprised me. I had seen all the images of turquoise waters, sandbanks and private resorts. But, there was so much more to The Maldives and there were so many more colors, and such strong colors. The buildings are painted in strong colors and people wear clothes with lots of colors. That’s why I knew I had to submit my images to the contest, just to show another side of the islands. If you visit The Maldives you get the chance to see so many more colors than turquoise.
And, just because a photo was taken four years ago, doesn’t mean it’s old or irrelevant.

Good Luck!
Thank you 🙏 and it’s not about winning but would be very nice to get some recognition.
Absolutely gorgeous. I hope everyone sees that!
Thank you! And so do I 🤞 there’s so much more to The Maldives than the sea, like the people of the islands.
