A photoshoot in Kummelnäs with Åsa Rosén

Life has been pretty busy lately, but I managed to squeeze in a photoshoot in beautiful Kummelnäs with someone I’ve known for most of my life, Åsa Rosén.

Åsa and I first met in first grade in Tornedalen, in northern Sweden, where we both grew up. Today, she’s an author and illustrator, creating books for children and young adults. Her work includes the fantasy trilogy Viskornas Dal, set in the very region we call home. Fun fact: the home of one of the main characters in the trilogy is based on the house and place I grew up in. Imagine that, my childhood home in a novel!
I’m a photographer, capturing people, places and moments through my lens. Åsa tells stories through words and illustrations; I tell mine through photographs. Different ways of telling stories, perhaps, but both rooted in creativity and the experiences that shape us.

t was lovely to catch up and photograph Åsa in Kummelnäs, which is at the beginning of the archipelago of Stockholm, with its beautiful surroundings providing the setting for our session. I’ve been in Kummelnäs with my camera before, photographing a garden jazz session with Åsas talented daughter Vide and her jazz band. Then it was a lovely early summers day.

Are you looking for portraits that tell your story? Whether you’re an author, artist, entrepreneur or simply want photographs that feel like you, I’d love to hear from you.
