      • That is true, it would appear that both Colombo and Seri Lanka are experiencing lots of issues along those lines 😅. But from a cultural stand-point, it is still highly alluring 😆👏💙

      • Yes. But so sad. Because it will take years for the country to get back on track. And I’m happy that I got out before the crisis became this deep. And feel guilty for being relieved.

  1. Yes the situation that’s happening now over there would make for a very miserable time, but then again, when we look around the globe it’s the same scenario with almost every country, they are all having some kind of economic issue or conflict so it’s like rinse-and-repeat 😅😅.

But at first, I didn’t even realize that Colombo is actually one of Sri Lanka’s capitals 🤭😄. I thought I was looking at pictures from a different place the whole time haha

    • Yes, it’s the Sri Lankan capital. A very interesting mix of old and new, and hopefully it won’t be full of abandoned half finished buildings. It’s just that their economy is worse than it’s been since their independence, the children in the schools don’t even have paper to write on anymore. Oh, well.

      • True, we will see what happens in regard to the buildings and the wider “infasstucture” of the country. Lets just hope that any half-finished buildings are not mostly just “wasteful spending” over useless projecsts in the first place 😆.

Wow the children not having access to even some of the basic needs, is embarrassing. If their local schools are that bad, I could only imaging how hard things might be for them in terms of their everyday lives where school is often seen as the only hopes they have of getting a better life.

  2. “Let’s hope so. And the Sri Lankans I’ve met are generally well educated so hope that can continue.”

Yes lets hope that continues; it should once it remains accessible and/or affordable 👍🙏😂. I also hope that the childrean and people in particular who are among the least fortunate who will be affected even more by these kinds of economic and infrastructure issues are actually able to get access to the basics that they need for better living and whatnot 💯👌.

      • That’s often the common theme with “news” these days, the negative things always get the most attention 😂. In the short term because of all the confusion that’s going on currently, it would be hard to really get the full picture of certain things, it’s over the long-term that we will really see how things are going to go, so as you said, who knows 👍😆
