My contribution to the photo contest BIFA

I’m still very busy – enjoying summer and traveling a bit, preparing for going back to school this fall to study to become an International Culture Producer, training, and re-starting my business – and, writing new blog posts. My backlog is long, but while preparing a blog post about MazatlΓ‘n in Mexico by the Pacific Ocean, I came across the photo contest Budapest International Foto Awards and decided to submit some of my photos that I’ve got from Mexico. I have so many surf photos from MexiLogFest so the blog post would be too long with million of photos. MexiLogFest is a longboard surf contest, and longboarding gives me as a photographer longer time to take photos and compose them. I’m thinking of doing a post about surf photography to use all of the photos I took.

The surf contest was going on for at least a week, I did not take photos every day, but it gave me a great opportunity to experiment with different techniques like here with slow shutter speed. I also loved the scenic backdrop that the city of MazatlΓ‘n provided.

As per usual, I did not limit my photography to surfing, I took photos of everything going on around Playa los Pinitos close to the Malecon of MazatlΓ‘n. Like this woman showing up and doing a headstand on the rocks. Amazing to see, and headstand are my favorite asana – pose – in yoga.

Of course, if there’s a sea, there is fishing going on. This was one of the first times I’ve seen pelicans and I was as fascinated by them as they seem to be by the fisherman’s catch.

I was so lucky that I got to photograph some of the best long boarders in the world, like in the photo above where you can see the Hawaiian surfer known as “Johnny the Ripper” or, as his given name is JohnΒ Michael Van Hohenstein.
Oh, and log is slang for a type of surfboard π the type you can see being ridden in my photos.
