This post will probably be mostly photos and very few words. But you never know with me. I’m so in love with putting the temples and rocks in my surf photos. It creates this lovely contrast between hard and soft. Also, there’s one song by Massive Attack that I constantly hear in my head when photographing here, it’s the song “Blue Lines” and I just couldn’t figure out the meaning of the line “Blue lines are the reason why the temple had to shatter” in the lyrics. Here it makes all sense, because, the temples by the sea are hit hard by waves year after year and eventually the shatter. Yes, I refer to the waves coming in as blue lines. That’s how they look. Of course this is my interpretation of the line in the song, but Iโve always found that line to be so odd, a bit out of place, in the lyrics. When doing some googling Iโve read that itโs referring to Doctor Who. But Iโve never seen that TV-show, so have no idea about that.

Most often, I see the reality as photographs. Sounds strange. Or, at least when I’m not in a rush somewhere. I usually think “That would make a pretty/cool/fun photo”, and when I have my camera with me, like this morning and yesterday, I have to force myself to put the camera down. Even after I’ve stored the camera in my bag I still see everything in frames, like in the photo above, the sea and surfers are framed by the temple, trees and the mountain (where the airport is, and more planes are arriving).

But honestly, for me personally, and for everybody who doesn’t like to be surrounded by people all the time, this is a perfect time to visit Bali because it’s quiet and you get to have some places all to yourself. Like when I visited the Uluwatu temple, I was almost there by myself.

It can be quite annoying, at least afterwards when you’re editing photos, when the weather changes. And when there’s this much water in the pictures it’s even more annoying since water is a reflective surface. Or, sometimes the weather and light are ok, like when Coxos finally happened after I’d been waiting for a month and gotten bitten by a dog meanwhile, and for a short minute the light is amazing and everything looks beautiful and you just want it to continue forever. But it never does. And still, I was there, got to capture it with my camera. So, in the photos above, the sun came out and the fog disappeared.

Maybe I’ve run out of words. And also, I was out yesterday with my camera so I’m mentally in those photos already. What I will do with those, how I will edit and present them. So, have to save my words.
