It’s the same moon

A photo of the full moon I took during my travels and now have submitted to LensCultures Art Awards Contest

Often when I’ve been missing some place, or felt homesick during my travels, I’ve looked up at the moon and thought that it’s the same moon shining down at all the different places of the whole world uniting the world and also being amazed by that fact. And it’s the same with the seas, they are all connected at some point.

This photo is taken in Arugam Bay, Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, in October 2021 and I’ve submitted it to LensCulture ArtAwards competition. It was a very special moment and one of those where I thought, “should I go get my camera, or should I just enjoy the moment”. Because you don’t need to photograph everything in life. But, I’m happy I got my camera out and, during the time I edited it before uploading it, I didn’t even notice that it was 16 degrees Celsius in my house and I was fully back in the moment when I took the photo.

  1. This is so beautiful. And yes, your thoughts are more beautiful❤❤❤ 😊😊😊

    • Wasn’t the moon beautiful?!! And, it is amazing that the moon, and the sun too, are the same all over the world. Wish that more people would see the things that unites us and not the things that separates us. Think there would me more peace in the world then. And, when I’ve been traveling I sort of think that people are the same, have the same thoughts and values, all over the world. Oh, I don’t know 😉

    • Thank you 🙏 No, this photo is taken in Sri Lanka last year. But now I’m in the north of Sweden where it looks completely different. But don’t you think it’s possible to take photos like this in the US? Somewhere along one of the coasts?

    • Thanks! I’m glad I went and got my camera too. But sometimes I’m lazy … and other times I just enjoy the moment. Like two days ago I was driving in my car and it was the most beautiful day with white snow and the sky was pink and apricot, would have loved to take a photo of it but I was on the highway so it was impossible to stop but, I drove a little bit slower so I could enjoy the beauty.

  2. Wow! that is definitely a beautiful sight to see 🤩🤩. I am glad that you were able to photograph it because while many of us get to see the moon not many of us get to witness it quite like that lol.

And you are so right about not everything needing to be videoed or pictured; sometimes it’s good to just enjoy the moment 🤟☺️☺️.

    • Yes, strangely enough, I’m not fully in the moment when I’m photographing since there’s so much to keep an eye on with the camera and the settings and everything. But, when looking back at the photo it takes me back to the moment I took it. So, there’s a strange thing going on there 😉

      • Yup, something definitely going on there haha. I definitely understand what you’re saying 👍👍😄. We (generally speaking) are not fully able to take-in or appreciate the moment when we have to be tinkering with equipment or managing assets but because you did it, you now have a cool photo that captures an interesting moment in time basically forever so 🙌😁😆.

      • Oh, it Jupiter still hanging out with the moon? It started happening more than a month ago. First I thought it was a satellite, but it’s more fun to think that Jupiter is hanging out with the moon 😉

      • I too, at first thought it was a satellite, too, but I looked it up and that’s what it said. I don’t know how long they normally hang out together but it was pretty to watch. 🙂

  3. Right on, you got to take the photo and be in the moment at the same time. That is awesome. From the reflection of the light off the clouds and the water, it seems it’s one of those bright moons where you could see your own shadow.
